Report on the play
On November 12th, the 5th and 6th forms of our school went to the Ingeborg-Bachmann-Gymnasium in Klagenfurt to watch a play by Vienna’s English Theatre company. As soon as we arrived we had to go to the 3rd floor, where four professional actors from London were waiting for us. Everything was already set up and after all students had sat down on, the four actors were ready to start. The play was called “Wild Weekend“ and it was about four teenagers named Shane, Angus, Leanne and Denise who decide to go camping in the untouched nature of Wales for the weekend. Away from London’s city life they have to deal with numerous problems. For example, they do not have a bin opener, but all they brought along to eat for their camping weekend is baked beans in cans. Apart from the struggle for survival the play also addresses topics such as power, responsibility and personal interests. The play was all in one: funny, sad, scary and dramatic. It was not only a survival but also a love story.
In my opinion, the play was fun to watch and I think that is due to the actors’ outstanding performance. Honestly, I really want to see this company again acting in other plays because they are extremely talented. After the play had ended we took the opportunity to take a picture with the actors, which was really great.
